A tower crane is a fully slewing jib crane with a tower-like structure. It is a common means of transportation in large civil engineering construction sites. It can move construction materials and construction machinery, and can move objects up and down, in a criss-cross direction. The task of moving objects can be completed quickly.

A tower crane is usually about 10 stories high, with one end used to lift objects, a control room in the middle, and a giant concrete block at the other end to ensure balance.

A tower crane is a modern form of balanced crane, consisting of the same basic components. Tower cranes are fixed to a concrete slab (sometimes attached to the side of the structure) and usually provide the best combination of height and lifting capacity for the construction of high-rise buildings. The base is then connected to the mast, which gives the crane its height. In addition, the mast is connected to a slewing unit (gear and motor) that allows the crane to rotate. There are three main parts on top of the slewing device: a long horizontal arm (working arm), a shorter jib, and a cab.
